Salisbury

Invited to join the cathedral staff for their morning prayers. Sadly missed it because of heavy rush-hour traffic getting into town, and I wanted to go in convoy with Maureen rather than overtake the queues as I normally do on the bike. But we met them all as they went to the coffee shop and they made us very welcome. Stunning building - well known as having tallest spire in England, but whole cathedral has unusual integrity because almost entirely a single style of architecture ("Early English Gothic" - built mid-1200s). Like Winchester, built as a cathedral - never a monastery - but unlike Winchester, has cloisters, added mid-1300s and the largest in England.
