RC Cathedral Visits

Southwark

Visited 31 May

Built 1848 by Pugin as (R.C.) parish church and became first Catholic cathedral in England since the Reformation when R.C. church allowed to appoint bishops in 1850. Badly damaged in WW2. Reopened in 1958 incorporating some of the original structure - more evident inside than out.
